• Germany’s top chess player Vincent Keymer to attend GRENKE Chess Classic
  • GRENKE Chess Open, Europe’s largest tournament for chess enthusiasts, to be held concurrently


Baden-Baden, February 2, 2024 – It has been a long wait for the chess world, but after a four-year break, the who’s who of international chess will meet again in Karlsruhe, Germany, from March 26 to April 1, 2024. At the GRENKE Chess Classic grandmaster tournament, world number one Magnus Carlsen is set to be challenged by the world’s top players: the new Chinese world champion, Ding Liren, and Germany’s youngest grandmaster and first German super grandmaster, Vincent Keymer. 

In terms of participants, the GRENKE Chess Open, to be held concurrently for amateurs, is the largest chess tournament in Europe and one of the most important open tournaments worldwide. In 2019, around 2,000 chess enthusiasts and 300 title holders from 55 nations participated. The GRENKE Chess Open features prize money of 70,000 euros.
